Basic Serials Cataloging (SCCTP) + Local Holdings = Serials Boot Camp!
|
|
Join us for a unique opportunity to learn the basics of serials cataloging plus the fundamentals of local holdings creation and maintenance in OCLC WorldCat. This two-day serials boot camp will feature the best of the SCCTP (Serials Cataloging Cooperative Training Program) Basic Serials Cataloging Workshop combined with the best of the Local Holdings in OCLC WorldCat Workshop. Many serials catalogers also have responsibility for holdings maintenance, so here’s your chance to gain information about both activities. If you’re not a serials cataloger, you can learn more about the MARC21 Format as applied to serials, record selection in OCLC WorldCat, and how these areas relate to local holdings.
At the end of this workshop you will be able to:- Determine what a serial is according to the revised scope of AACR2
- Identify the elements contained in the CONSER Standard Record (implemented as of June 1, 2007)
- Identify appropriate MARC 21 tagging
- Create and edit bibliographic records for serials
- Retrieve and interpret local and group holdings records
- Create, modify, and delete OCLC Local Holdings Records
- Analyze ILL statistics in WorldCat in order to prioritize your workflow
